Mango cultivation and export in Chemmanampathy, Palakkad

Most of the mangoes are grown in the plains Chemmanampathy region which is very close to the Kerala border. Here kilimuku , Alponsa, Malkova, senturam fruits are exported to inter state and other countries.


Other varieties are Banganapalli, Bangalora, Neelum, Rumani, Kalepad, Imam Pasand etc. Alphonso, Kesar, Totapuri and Banganpalli are leading export varieties from India. Mango exports primarily take place in three forms: fresh mango, mango pulp, and mango slice.


The main mango producing states in India are Uttar Pradesh (23.86%),Andhra Pradesh (22.14%),Karnataka (11.71%). Bihar (8.79%), Gujarat (6.00%) and Tamil Nadu (5.09%). Total export of mangoes from India is 59.22 thousand tons.
